Peter has held permanent senior management positions in the Financial Services sector; driving strategic, operational and people development performance, in such roles as Head of Savings Call/Contact centre, and Head of Management Development Programme training for Barclays PLC.

His recruitment consultancy and interim assignments built on this knowledge and experience of what has worked; particularly driving and delivering programmes (both operationally and hands on training) delivering the type of recruitment consultancy, infrastructure, environment, processes & leadership behaviours that organisations and staff can sustain.The organisation has grown to work with: - Bradford & Bingley PLC, Barclays PLC, East of Scotland Water, BNFL Alliance, Royal Bank of Scotland, O2, Littlewoods and other clients within the “not for profit sector” .

  • Designing, directing & delivering staff recruitment & selection assessment centre events (bespoke & volume related)

 Some specific recent achievements include:

  • Delivering an accredited interview skills programme to middle management of a major blue financial services group (UK & Ireland locations)
  • Responsible for bringing together a dispirited Operational department, which had not been used to being managed against objectives and measures, in terms of outputs and agreed key service and operating level agreements. Peter introduced performance management & process/continuous improvement tools & techniques.
  • Peter was also responsible for design, training delivery, career path management and succession strategy for Barclays Graduate Training. This also involved Programme Directing and delivering a major re-design of technical, lending, managerial and personal development training, linked to an emerging Bank strategy for this “high-flying” potential senior executive audience
  • He has facilitated strategic, operational & project planning sessions to ensure vision is translated into day-to-day reality.
  • Co-designed a Performance & Change Programme, and then embedded the project via training and 'cascades' across middle managers and their teams. The Focus covered: - teambuilding, result/task focus, visible management systems, CI & QA programmes, problem solving/process improvement, EFQM & culture surveys and leadership training
  • Designed attraction strategies & then undertook recruitment @ senior management, operational and all customer service team levels; managed and client partnered recruitment and assessment centre events. Skills transfer/trained new client teams across the UK to take over these activities
  • Co defined and delivered Business Development strategy and supporting processes; coached and trained management teams in terms of its delivery to target across a large North West Housing Group
  • Developed & delivered “Leadership & Managing for Success” training workshops for a major Housing Association
